SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 123
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING DR. LINDA NIX FOR 1
BEING SELECTED AS "INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR" AT THE JACKSON COUNTY 2
CAMPUS OF MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE. 3
WHEREAS, Dr. Linda Nix, a resident of Vancleave, Mississippi, 4
has been selected as "Instructor of the Year" at Mississippi Gulf 5
Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished 6
service to the college; and 7
WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association 8
of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors, 9
and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations 10
submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of 11
his or her teaching excellence, college service, community service 12
and professional development; and 13
WHEREAS, Dr. Linda Nix, a Science Instructor, has been 14
employed at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past 15
nine years; and 16
WHEREAS, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in 17
Biological Sciences, a Master of Arts in Teaching degree in 18

ST: Commend Dr. Linda Nix as "Instructor of the
Year" at the Jackson County Campus of MGCCC.
Biology, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Biology Education from The 19
University of Southern Mississippi; and 20
WHEREAS, Dr. Linda Nix has worked as a Science Teacher for 21
Pass Christian High School, an Excelerate in STEM Mentor and an 22
advisement coordinator for the School of Science and Kinesiology 23
for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College prior to her career 24
as a Science Instructor at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community 25
College; and 26
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize and commend 27
such an outstanding teacher as Dr. Nix, who has dedicated her 28
career to teaching the students of the State of Mississippi: 29
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 30
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Dr. Linda 31
Nix for being selected as "Instructor of the Year" at the Jackson 32
County Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and 33
extend to her our most sincere wishes for success in all her 34
future endeavors. 35
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 36
Dr. Linda Nix, forwarded to the President of Mississippi Gulf 37
Coast Community College and made available to the Capitol Press 38
Corps. 39
