SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 2
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 2025 JACKSON 1
ACADEMY RAIDER FOOTBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH DAVID DUGGAN FOR 2
WINNING THE MAIS 4A DIVISION 1 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. 3
WHEREAS, in a decisive victory, the Jackson Academy Raider 4
Football Team converted a championship mentality into a 5
championship reality on November 22, 2025, defeating Hartfield 6
Academy 50-14 at Mississippi College's Robinson-Hale Stadium; and 7
WHEREAS, the victory secured the program's tenth state title 8
and capped an 11-1 season under second-year Head Coach David 9
Duggan; and 10
WHEREAS, the Raiders' ground game overwhelmed Hartfield 11
throughout the night. Junior running back Aaric Beasley rushed 12
for over 140 yards and scored three times. Josef Walker added 13
three rushing touchdowns while also passing for over 100 yards. 14
The offensive line created consistent opportunities for the 15
running backs, accumulating nearly 300 yards on the ground as a 16
team; and 17

WHEREAS, defensively, Jackson Academy limited Hartfield's 18
offensive production significantly, with the Raiders holding a 19
substantial yardage advantage. Adam Alexander and Carter Mathison 20
each led the defense with 11 tackles against Hartfield, which had 21
won the previous two state championships; and 22
WHEREAS, Jackson Academy fell behind early but responded 23
quickly to tie the game in the first quarter. The Raiders then 24
pulled away with three scores before halftime to take a 23-7 lead. 25
The second half saw Jackson Academy continue to build on its 26
advantage, adding four more touchdowns to complete the 27
comprehensive victory. Hartfield managed just one second-half 28
score as the Raiders' defense maintained control; and 29
WHEREAS, Coach Duggan's leadership in his two seasons at JA 30
has brought a championship culture to the program. The Raiders' 31
dominant performance has showcased the team's commitment, 32
preparation, and unity throughout the 2025 season; and 33
WHEREAS, the 2025 Jackson Academy Varsity Football Roster: 34

WHEREAS, this tenth state title in school history was not 50
just about the players on the field, it was about every person in 51
the stands, every spirit leader and band member on the sidelines, 52
every parent cheering, every alum who came home, and every friend 53
who showed up. They celebrated together because they are all a 54
part of Raider Nation; and 55
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize these 56
student-athletes who have brought honor to their school, their 57
community and to the State of Mississippi: 58
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 59
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2025 60
Jackson Academy Raider Football Team and Head Coach David Duggan 61
for winning the MAIS 4A Division 1 State Championship, and extend 62
to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors our best wishes for 63
continued state championships. 64
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 65
Head Coach David Duggan for the team, forwarded to Jackson Academy 66
