SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 25

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE LAMAR SCHOOL 1
RAIDERS FOOTBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH JACOB LAND FOR WINNING THE 2
MAIS 4A DIVISION 111 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP WHICH WAS THE TEAM'S 3
SEVENTH STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND FIRST TITLE SINCE 2018. 4
WHEREAS, we join the team, coaches, students and 5
administration of Lamar School in Meridian for winning the MAIS 4A 6
Division 111 State Championship by defeating Brookhaven Academy 7
34-17 on November 22, 2025, which was the team's seventh State 8
Championship and its first title since 2018; and 9
WHEREAS, Lamar School had one school between them and their 10
goal, Brookhaven Academy. The Raiders came out firing on all 11
cylinders, two touchdowns to kick the game off, putting them up to 12
a 14-0 lead early on. The Lamar defense was absolutely electric 13
with two game-changing pick-sixes, the first coming from senior 14
Jalin Trotter and the second coming from senior Mikeal Willis; and 15
WHEREAS, Lamar Head Football Coach, Jacob Land, said on the 16
win, "They just weren't going to get beat. And that's what I love 17
about them. I'm so proud of them. Our players are so resilient, 18

just great young men and I'm excited to see where they go in the 19

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this group 32
of student-athletes who have brought honor to their school, their 33

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 35
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Lamar 36
School Raiders Football Team and Head Coach Jacob Land for winning 37
the MAIS 4A Division 111 State Championship which was the team's 38
seventh state championship and first title since 2018, and extend 39
our best wishes to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors for 40
future success. 41
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 42
Lamar School Head Coach Jacob Land for the team and Head of School 43
