SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 30

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING AUBREY LYNN 1
ATCHISON, A SENIOR AT BILOXI HIGH SCHOOL, AS THE STATE GAMES OF 2
MISSISSIPPI 2025 YOUTH ATHLETE OF THE YEAR. 3
WHEREAS, the State Games of Mississippi 2025 Ochsner Rush 4
Health Athletes of the Year were recognized by the Mississippi 5
State Legislature and Governor Tate Reeves during a visit to the 6
Capitol in March; and 7
WHEREAS, the 2025 Games featured more than 5,200 athletes 8
competing in more than 40 events across 18 counties, and three 9
athletes personified the ideals of the State Games in 10
participation, sportsmanship, special achievements and positive 11
attitudes; and 12
WHEREAS, the three athletes, who each competed in the 2025 13
games, were unique contributors to their individual sports, and 14
thus were named Ochsner Rush Health Athletes of the Year: Aubrey 15
Lynn Atchison of Biloxi (Youth Athlete of the Year), Kaytelyn 16
Harris of Quitman (Female Athlete of the Year), and Daniel Wile of 17
Meridian (Male Athlete of the Year); and 18

WHEREAS, "It is a great honor to be recognized by our 19
statewide lawmakers and Governor Reeves," said Missye Dozier, 20
Executive Director of the Games. "State Games holds sporting 21
events throughout the state, creating multiple opportunities for 22
amateur athletes and contributing to the economies of each city in 23
which they are held"; and 24
WHEREAS, Aubrey Atchison of Biloxi is a senior at Biloxi High 25
School and has been playing softball for 13 years, including three 26
years competing in the State Games of Mississippi. In the 2025 27
State Games, she posted a .636 batting average, scored four runs, 28
and tallied five RBIs. Her performance capped off a standout 29
season that included First Team All-Region 4-7A honors, selection 30
to the Mississippi Gulf Coast All-Stars Futures Game, and was 31
recognized as Biloxi High School's Offensive Player of the Year; 32
and 33
WHEREAS, Aubrey's path to success hasn't been easy. After 34
breaking her ankle in 2022, she faced a long road to recovery, 35
eventually returning to the varsity team while still in 8th Grade. 36
Two more injuries followed, but Aubrey never gave up — showing up 37
to train, support her teammates and lead through adversity. She 38
says the challenges taught her patience, resilience and how to 39
lead with grace. "Softball is so much more than just a sport to 40
me. It's where I found my passion, my people and my purpose," 41

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this 43
student-athlete who has brought honor to her school, her community 44
and to the State of Mississippi: 45
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 46
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Aubrey 47
Lynn Atchison, a senior at Biloxi High School, as the State Games 48
of Mississippi 2025 Youth Athlete of the Year, and extend to 49
Aubrey, her parents and coaches our best wishes for future 50
success. 51
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 52
Aubrey Lynn Atchison and her family, forwarded to the State Games 53
of Mississippi, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps. 54
