A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE SIMPSON 1
ACADEMY LADY COUGARS SOFTBALL TEAM AND COACH MATT HARRISON FOR 2
WINNING THE MAIS 4A DIVISION I STATE SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP. 3
WHEREAS, on October 12, 2025, the Simpson Academy Lady 4
Cougars defeated Parklane Academy 6-4 in the deciding Game 3 of 5
the best-of-three series for the MAIS Class 4A Division 1 State 6
Softball Championship at the Magee Sportsplex; and 7
WHEREAS, after an incredible run through the playoffs, the 8
Lady Cougars earned their shot at the title with two dominant 9
victories: An 8-1 win over Bayou Academy and a commanding 12-0 10
shutout over Parklane Academy. Their determination and teamwork 11
secured them home-field advantage for Game 1 of the championship 12
series; and 13
WHEREAS, the road to the finals was paved with grit, heart, 14
and relentless effort. The Lady Cougars showed what happens when 15
talent meets tenacity, playing their best softball when it matters 16

Madisyn Hankins, Caroline Lewis, Ava Kate Maddox, Sydnie Bass, 23
Jayda Smith, Stella Steed and Annmarie Blakeney; Head Coach Matt 24
Harrison; and Assistant Coaches Ben Coney and Michael Harrison; 25
and 26
WHEREAS, their focus and fire on the field inspired Cougar 27
fans and demonstrated why this team is among the best in the MAIS. 28
Coaches and staff emphasized playing with confidence and unity, 29
and the players responded in dominant fashion. This remarkable 30
group of young women battled their way to the top, representing 31
Simpson Academy with pride, sportsmanship and Cougar spirit: 32
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 33
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 34
Simpson Academy Lady Cougars Softball Team and Coach Matt Harrison 35
for winning the MAIS 4A Division I State Softball Championship, 36
and extend our best wishes to the team, coaches, parents and 37
sponsors for future success. 38
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 39
Coach Matt Harrison for the team, forwarded to Simpson Academy 40
Headmaster John Shows and the Simpson Academy Board of Trustees, 41
