SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 33
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MISSISSIPPI 1
FORESTRY COMMISSION UPON THE OCCASION OF ITS 100TH ANNIVERSARY AND 2
RECOGNIZING A CENTURY OF SERVICE TO THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI. 3
WHEREAS, the Mississippi Forestry Commission was established 4
in 1926 to provide leadership in the protection, management, and 5
conservation of Mississippi's forest resources; and 6
WHEREAS, for 100 years, the Mississippi Forestry Commission 7
has served the citizens of Mississippi by protecting lives, 8
property, and forestlands through wildfire prevention, 9
suppression, and emergency response, while promoting sound forest 10
management and stewardship practices; and 11
WHEREAS, Mississippi is home to approximately 19,000,000 12
acres of forestland, making forestry a cornerstone of the state's 13
economy, environment, and quality of life, and the Mississippi 14
Forestry Commission plays a critical role in sustaining these 15
working forests for present and future generations; and 16
WHEREAS, the Mississippi Forestry Commission provides 17
essential services, including wildfire response, forest health 18

monitoring, sustainable forest management assistance, landowner 19
outreach, urban and community forestry support, and forestry 20
education programs that benefit all Mississippians; and 21
WHEREAS, the success of the Mississippi Forestry Commission 22
is the result of the dedication, professionalism, and sacrifice of 23
its employees, past and present, along with strong partnerships 24
with landowners, local governments, state and federal agencies, 25
educational institutions, and industry partners; and 26
WHEREAS, the 100th Anniversary of the Mississippi Forestry 27
Commission is a significant milestone that offers an opportunity 28
to honor its historic legacy, recognize its current mission, and 29
reaffirm the importance of forestry to Mississippi's economy, 30
public safety, and natural resources; and 31
WHEREAS, the Mississippi Senate desires to recognize and 32
commend the Mississippi Forestry Commission for its century of 33
faithful service and its continued commitment to protecting and 34
managing Mississippi's forests: 35
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 36
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 37
Mississippi Forestry Commission upon the occasion of its 100th 38
Anniversary and recognize its dedicated service to the State of 39
Mississippi and its citizens. 40
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 41
the Mississippi Forestry Commission and that copies be forwarded 42
to the Governor of the State of Mississippi, the Mississippi 43
