SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 35
A RESOLUTION TO EXTEND THE RECOGNITION AND THANKS OF THE 1
MISSISSIPPI SENATE TO "VETERANS OUTREACH OF MISSISSIPPI" FOR ITS 2
OUTSTANDING SERVICE AND DEDICATION TO THE VETERANS OF MISSISSIPPI. 3
WHEREAS, Veterans OutReach of Mississippi has faithfully 4
served Mississippi's veterans since 2009, helping America's heroes 5
feel respected, supported, and at home; and 6
WHEREAS, the mission of Veterans OutReach of Mississippi is 7
to provide spiritual guidance, counseling, and essential goods and 8
services not otherwise supplied by the State of Mississippi or 9
other government agencies to veterans residing in the Mississippi 10
State Veterans Homes; and 11
WHEREAS, the Mississippi State Veterans Homes are state-owned 12
and operated facilities providing care to veterans, many of whom 13
arrive medically indigent, elderly, homeless, or without family 14
support, and in need of basic necessities and companionship; and 15
WHEREAS, Veterans OutReach works in close coordination with 16
nursing home staff to identify unmet needs and provide assistance 17

in a manner that preserves the dignity of each veteran and avoids 18
preferential treatment; and 19
WHEREAS, dedicated volunteers of Veterans OutReach make 20
regular personal visits to residents, fostering bonds of 21
friendship and expressing appreciation, respect, and compassion 22
for those who have served our nation; and 23
WHEREAS, Veterans OutReach of Mississippi serves veterans 24
residing at the Collins State Veterans Home in Collins, 25
Mississippi, and the Kosciusko State Veterans Home in Kosciusko, 26
Mississippi; and 27
WHEREAS, Veterans OutReach conducts numerous ongoing projects 28
to enhance the quality of life for resident veterans, including 29
providing clothing, personal items, furniture, lifts and chairs, 30
hosting bingo games, cookouts, meals, celebrations, and conducting 31
an Adopt-A-Veteran Christmas Gift Drive; and 32
WHEREAS, through its unwavering commitment to service, 33
Veterans OutReach has demonstrated a profound dedication to 34
honoring and caring for Mississippi's most vulnerable and often 35
forgotten veterans, and it is with great pride that we recognize 36
the dedication, expertise, and commitment of this veterans service 37
support group which has made a lasting impact on our state: 38
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 39
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby extend the recognition and thanks 40
of the Mississippi Senate to "Veterans OutReach of Mississippi" 41

for its outstanding service and dedication to the veterans of 42
Mississippi. 43
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Mississippi State Senate 44
expresses its sincere gratitude to the volunteers, supporters, and 45
leadership of Veterans OutReach for their continued commitment to 46
honoring, supporting, and caring for Mississippi's veterans. 47
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Mississippi Veterans Affairs 48
(MSVA) has extended its gratitude, support, and its cooperation 49
with Veterans OutReach of Mississippi. 50
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 51
Veterans OutReach as a symbol of the high esteem in which it is 52
held by the Mississippi State Senate and the citizens of this 53
great state. 54
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 55
the Veterans OutReach of Mississippi and to the Mississippi VA 56
Executive Director Mark Smith and made available to the Capitol 57
Press Corps. 58
