SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 37
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING ABBEY HARTY FROM EDAM, SASKATCHEWAN, 1
AS MISS RODEO CANADA 2026 AND WELCOMING HER TO MISSISSIPPI ON THE 2
OCCASION OF THE DIXIE NATIONAL LIVESTOCK AND RODEO SHOW. 3
WHEREAS, Abbey Harty has been crowned Miss Rodeo Canada 2026; 4
and 5
WHEREAS, Abbey is a 22-year-old first-generation rodeo 6
athlete from Edam, Saskatchewan, raised in a rural ranching 7
community. She has been involved in rodeo and horsemanship for 8
over a decade, competing in multiple rodeo associations across 9
Western Canada. Through her involvement in the sport, Abbey has 10
developed strong values of perseverance, respect, and community, 11
principles that guide both her personal and professional life; and 12
WHEREAS, Abbey currently serves as an executive member and 13
Social Media Manager for the University of Saskatchewan College 14
Rodeo Team. She also proudly holds a position as a board member 15
of the Canadian College Rodeo Association, where she contributes 16
to the promotion and advancement of collegiate rodeo across 17
Canada. Beyond the rodeo arena, Abbey has worked in the 18

healthcare field for over five years and is currently employed at 19
a long-term care facility. She is pursuing a career in Nursing at 20
Saskatchewan Polytechnic, with aspirations of obtaining a Master's 21
degree in Dementia Studies. In 2018, Abbey's rodeo career was 22
abruptly interrupted following a serious ATV accident that 23
resulted in a partial arm amputation. After undergoing multiple 24
surgeries and years of rehabilitation, she rediscovered her 25
resilience and determination, ultimately returning to the rodeo 26
arena with a renewed perspective and deep appreciation for the 27
sport; and 28
WHEREAS, Abbey's journey in rodeo later led her to discover a 29
passion for rodeo queening. Her path began as the North 30
Battleford Rodeo Princess and continued through her role as Miss 31
Rodeo Agribition; and 32
WHEREAS, now representing Canadian Professional Rodeo as Miss 33
Rodeo Canada, Abbey is honored to share the traditions, values, 34
and heritage of Canada's western way of life — an honor she 35
carries with pride and purpose; and 36
WHEREAS, as Miss Rodeo Canada 2026, Abbey will serve as the 37
official representative of Canada. During her reign, she will 38
travel over 40,000 miles and appear at nearly 100 rodeo 39
performances, as well as attend various schools, civic groups, and 40
special events to educate the public about rodeo, its sponsors, 41
and its opportunities. Olivia will also serve as a spokesperson 42
at promotional events and will model in commercial advertisements 43

for western clothiers, publications, sponsors, and other service 44
providers in the western industry; and 45
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we welcome Miss Rodeo 46
Canada 2026 to the Hospitality State: 47
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 48
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize Abbey Harty from Edam, 49
Saskatchewan, as Miss Rodeo Canada 2026 and welcome her to 50
Mississippi on the occasion of the Dixie National Livestock and 51
Rodeo Show. 52
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 53
Abbey Harty, forwarded to the Commissioner of Agriculture and 54
Commerce, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps. 55
