SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 45
A RESOLUTION HONORING THE MISSISSIPPI CHAPTERS OF JACK AND 1
JILL OF AMERICA, INC., FOR ITS EXCEPTIONAL COMMITMENT TO CULTIVATE 2
THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW AND COMMENDING THIS DISTINGUISHED 3
ORGANIZATION OF FAMILIES ON THE OCCASION OF JACK AND JILL OF 4
AMERICA, INC.'S, LEGISLATIVE DAY AT THE CAPITOL. 5
WHEREAS, the Mississippi chapters of Jack and Jill of 6
America, Inc., are attending the Mississippi State Capitol 7
building on February 16, 2026, "Amplifying Our Voices" for its 8
organization in order to galvanize their children, mothers and 9
fathers to become more aware of the legislative process; and 10
WHEREAS, Jack and Jill of America, Inc., is a nationally 11
beloved and distinguished organization of African American 12
mothers, fathers and children, comprised of 262 chapters, across 13
seven geographical regions; and 14
WHEREAS, founded by the late Marion Stubbs Thomas in 1938, an 15
acclaimed pianist and civic organizer, who along with 20 mothers 16
gathered to create an organization of African American mothers 17
with children from the ages of two to 19, who provide social, 18
cultural and educational opportunities for youth; and 19

WHEREAS, since its inception, this unrivaled organization of 20
mothers has championed many legislative initiatives that improve 21
the quality of life for children and families, including access to 22
healthy food, free mammograms, blood pressure and cardiovascular 23
checks, swim lessons, financial literacy workshops, mental health 24
initiatives, voter registration, scholarships and assistance in 25
low-income communities; and 26
WHEREAS, Mississippi's three vibrant chapters: the Jackson, 27
Mississippi Gulf Coast and the North Mississippi chapters, along 28
with Regional Legislative Chair Dee Dawkins-Haigler are excited to 29
educate Mississippi families and advocate for children during 30
their legislative day; and 31
WHEREAS, the chapters in Mississippi are proudly represented 32
by impressive leaders, including: North Mississippi, Lillian 33
Morris-Hilson, CP and Latrica McCool, VP; Mississippi Gulf Coast, 34
Kutina Carter, CP and Tomesha Davis, VP; and Jackson Chapter, Mona 35
Arnold-McBride, CP and Teneisha Felice Wynter, VP; and 36
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we celebrate this 37
exceptional organization, whose extraordinary community service 38
brings honor to the State of Mississippi and improves the lives of 39
future generations of Mississippians: 40
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 41
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the Mississippi chapters of 42
Jack and Jill of America, Inc., for their exceptional commitment 43
to the educational and cultural development of youth, the 44

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 48

Davis, Mona Arnold-McBride, and Teneisha Felice Wynter, and made 50
available to the Capitol Press Corps. 51
