SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 47
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE SOUTH PANOLA 1
HIGH SCHOOL AIR FORCE JROTC DRONE TEAM FOR ITS THIRD CONSECUTIVE 2
GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP IN A SINGLE SEASON. 3
WHEREAS, with sharp focus, solid teamwork, and outstanding 4
leadership, the South Panola High School Air Force JROTC Drone 5
Team has pulled off a truly historic achievement — a perfect 6
three-event sweep, taking home its third consecutive Grand 7
Championship at the Big JROTC Showdown in Mesquite, Texas; and 8
WHEREAS, operating like a well-oiled machine, Team A soared 9
to victory as Grand Champions, battling top-tier competition from 10
Texas and Arkansas. Meanwhile, Team C secured the Judge's Award, 11
recognized for its professionalism, teamwork, and creative 12
decision-making under pressure; and 13
WHEREAS, this victory marks a first in school history. Never 14
before has a South Panola Air Force JROTC drone team captured 15
three major championship titles in a single season. This was the 16
result of discipline, commitment, and the never-quit mindset that 17
defines South Panola Cadets; and 18

WHEREAS, the South Panola High School Air Force JROTC Drone 19
Team accomplished the following titles: (a) third consecutive 20
Championship in a single season, (b) top 4 in the nation among all 21
Air Force JROTC drone programs, (c) top 50 in the world - 22
competing with the best globally. All-South Panola JROTC programs 23
are ranked in the Top 25 nationwide across all service branches. 24
Now, the team sets its sights on the next mission — the Marion 25
Military Institute STEM Challenge in Marion, Alabama. South 26
Panola's motto is: Flight is Our Legacy. The Sky Our Command; 27
and 28
WHEREAS, "This is more than a win — it's a message to every 29
JROTC team out there," said Tech Sergeant Rodney Williams, 30
Aerospace Science Instructor and Drone Team Head Coach. "South 31
Panola Cadets are showing what leadership, discipline, and heart 32
can achieve." These wins show more than talent. They prove what 33
happens when cadets train hard, support each other, and lead with 34
character; and 35
WHEREAS, with the guidance of instructors Tech Sergeant 36
Williams, Master Sergeant Vonetta Roseman, Ms. Lashandra Carr, and 37
Mrs. Denise Pope, South Panola is setting a new bar for 38
excellence. They'll go for an unprecedented fourth Grand 39
Championship in a single season; and 40
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this 41
outstanding group of student-athletes who "flew, coded, 42
strategized and supported" their team to unprecedented victory, 43

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 46
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the South 47
Panola High School Air Force JROTC Drone Team for its third 48
consecutive Grand Championship in a single season, and extend our 49
best wishes for future competition success. 50
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 51
South Panola Drone instructors on behalf of the team, forwarded to 52
South Panola Principal David Odom and the South Panola School 53
District School Board, and be made available to the Capitol Press 54
Corps. 55
