A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MORTON HIGH 1
SCHOOL PANTHERS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH MAURICE BOWIE 2
FOR WINNING THE 2025 MHSAA CLASS 4A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. 3
WHEREAS, on March 6, 2026, the Morton High School Panthers 4
Boys Basketball team led by Head Coach Maurice Bowie, won the 2026 5
MHSAA Class 4A Boys State Basketball Championship, defeating the 6
Leake Central Gators. The final score was Morton 67 - Leake 7
Central 55; and 8
WHEREAS, this victory is Morton's first state championship 9
since 1998 and the third in school history; and 10
WHEREAS, the Morton High School 2026 Championship Roster: 11
Desmand Jenkins, Avonte Reese, Xavier McDonald, Tristian Ealy, 12
Dolph McDonald, Tristan Hobson, Davon Rance, Jaylin Stowers, 13
Bryson Bounds, Justice Anderson, Damaryn Anderson, Jonathan 14
Wesley, and Head Coach, Maurice Bowie; and 15
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this group 16
of student-athletes who have brought honor to their school, their 17

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 19
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Morton 20
High School Panthers Boys Basketball Team and Head Coach Maurice 21
Bowie for winning the 2025 MHSAA Class 4A State Championship, and 22
extend to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors our best wishes 23
for future championships. 24
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 25
Coach Maurice Bowie for the team, Morton High School Principal Dr. 26
Shelly French, forwarded to the Scott County Board of Education 27
