A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 2025-2026 1
FLORENCE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOCCER TEAM AND COACH BILL HOOD FOR 2
WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION (MHSAA) 3
CLASS 5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. 4
WHEREAS, the 2025-2026 Florence High School Girls Soccer Team 5
was outstanding at the Mississippi High School Activities 6
Association (MHSAA) Class 5A State Championship, bringing home the 7
Gold Ball in its third consecutive title game appearance and 8
marking the team's second state championship win in the last three 9
years; and 10
WHEREAS, fans crowded the stands to watch the Lady Eagles 11
showcase their exemplary skill and grit on the pitch, and the 12
team's spectacular performance did not disappoint as they clinched 13
the championship title in a 4-1 victory over the East Central Lady 14
Hornets; and 15
WHEREAS, Florence took an early lead as Mallory Jackson 16
netted the opening goal in the 5th minute of the championship 17
game, setting the team up for success, and though the Lady Hornets 18
quickly managed to put one past the keeper to momentarily even the 19

score, the Lady Eagles never waivered in determination and stamina 20
as they fought to regain control of the game; and 21
WHEREAS, the Lady Eagles quickly bounced back as Mary Elise 22
Taylor and Jordyn Quick both managed to find the back of the net 23
before halftime, and the team's defense maintained dominance in 24
the second half of the game, refusing to let the Lady Hornets 25
score again; and 26
WHEREAS, Jordyn Quick landed the final blow of the game with 27
another goal and secured the well-earned win for the Lady Eagles 28
in a triumphant finale to their incredible season; and 29
WHEREAS, the team's previous loss in penalty kicks last year 30
lit a fire under the returning competitors, motivating them to 31
train even harder and return to the championship better than 32
before, and their hard work paid off, making its comeback victory 33
that much sweeter; and 34
WHEREAS, after winning four state titles and reaching the 35
state championship for the fifth time, the senior members of the 36
Lady Eagles will surely carry the unforgettable memories they have 37
made during their time on this dynamic team, as well as the 38
lessons of teamwork, dedication and perseverance they have 39
learned; and 40
WHEREAS, the Lady Eagles have been superbly coached and 41
inspired by Head Coach Bill Hood, who has broadened the team's 42
knowledge of the sport and refined their skills in execution, 43
producing high caliber players and plays; and 44

MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 60
2025-2026 Florence High School Girls Soccer Team and Head Coach 61
Bill Hood upon winning the Mississippi High School Activities 62
Association (MHSAA) Class 5A State Championship, and extend best 63
wishes to the team for continued success in all their future 64
endeavors. 65
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 66
Head Coach Bill Hood and Principal Jason Thomas for the Florence 67
High School Girls Soccer Team, forwarded to the Rankin County 68
