SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 89
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 2026 ST. 1
PATRICK FIGHTING IRISH BOYS SOCCER TEAM AND COACH RYAN WORSHAM FOR 2
THEIR FIRST STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SINCE 2017. 3
WHEREAS, the St. Patrick High School Fighting Irish are state 4
champions for the first time since 2017 after taking down St. 5
Andrew's in the Class I Boys Soccer Title Game in Jackson on 6
February 20, 2026; and 7
WHEREAS, Tristan Davis' rainbow first-half shot into the 8
upper back corner of the net was the difference in St. Patrick's 9
long-awaited return to the top. Davis, the MVP of the match, 10
launched a towering kick from 60 feet away on the far sideline 11
less than 20 minutes into the game, and the ball found its way 12
into the thin window between the goalkeeper's outstretched hands 13
and the top of the far post; and 14
WHEREAS, "We worked so hard for this for so long and to 15
finally hold that Gold Ball, it's pretty incredible. We wanted to 16
challenge ourselves (this season) and we did that," Coach Ryan 17
Worsham said after the game; and 18

WHEREAS, the Irish survived a card-riddled evening thanks to 19
the protection of goalie John Dreger and an experienced 20
senior-heavy roster; and 21
WHEREAS, St. Patrick won its first South State crown in three 22
attempts under Coach Worsham in his fifth-year in the semifinal 23
before finally breaking through and bringing home a Gold Ball. 24
St. Patrick swept the title matches following the girls win 25
earlier in the evening; and 26
WHEREAS, the 2025-2026 St. Patrick High School Varsity Boys 27
Fighting Irish Soccer Team Roster: John Dreger, Grant Wall, 28
Tristan Davis, Caleb McCune, George Neumann, Ayden Cosper, Peter 29
Barhonovich, Cameron Messer, Payton Taylor, Luke Shaw, Hunter 30
Robinson, Lucas Kurihara, Gage Anderson, Sam McClain, Bishop 31

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize these 37
student-athletes who have brought honor to their school, community 38
and to the State of Mississippi: 39
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 40
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2026 41
St. Patrick Fighting Irish Boys Soccer Team and Coach Ryan Worsham 42
for their first state championship since 2017, and extend to the 43
