SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 90
A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING FORMER STATE SENATOR ROBERT 1
(BOBBY) CHAMBERLIN UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS INVESTITURE AS JUDGE 2
OF THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE NORTHERN DISTRICT OF 3
MISSISSIPPI. 4
WHEREAS, it is with great pride and pleasure that we 5
recognize the Investiture Ceremony of Judge Robert P. Chamberlin 6
of the United States District Court for the Northern District of 7
Mississippi on March 20, 2026, in Hernando, Mississippi; and 8
WHEREAS, on August 13, 2025, President Trump nominated Robert 9
Chamberlin to the United States District Court for the Northern 10
District of Mississippi. He was confirmed by the U.S. Senate 11
51-46 on December 9, 2025. At the time of his nomination, he was 12
a current member of the Mississippi Supreme Court. He won an open 13
seat for the post in 2016 and ran unopposed during the 2024 14
election cycle; and 15
WHEREAS, Robert Chamberlin entered private practice with the 16
Austin Law Firm, also known as Tollison, Austin, and Twiford, 17
where he worked as a law associate from 1990 to 1994 before 18

becoming a law partner (1994–2001). He began his judicial service 19
as a Municipal Judge for the City of Hernando (1991–1999) and 20
later served as Municipal Prosecutor for the City of Horn Lake 21
(1992). In the mid-1990s, he was appointed Special Master for the 22
Chancery Court of Mississippi's Third District. He later 23
co-founded Chamberlin & Nowak, P.C., serving as a law partner from 24
2001 to 2004, while also acting as Board Counsel to the DeSoto 25
County Board of Supervisors (2001–2004); and 26
WHEREAS, Justice Chamberlin served as a respected republican 27
member of the Mississippi State Senate from 2000 to 2004. During 28
this time, he sponsored and supported legislation reflecting 29
socially conservative priorities; and 30
WHEREAS, on November 24, 2004, Chamberlin was appointed as a 31
Circuit Court Judge by Governor Haley Barbour, serving until his 32
election to the Mississippi Supreme Court in November 2016. As a 33
justice, he has authored and joined opinions upholding legislative 34
decisions on issues such as taxpayer standing in school funding 35
challenges; and 36
WHEREAS, "I'm pleased the Senate has confirmed Justice 37
Chamberlin to serve on the U.S. District Court. His record on the 38
bench in Mississippi, as well as his community service, make him 39
very qualified to serve on the federal judiciary, which is why 40
President Trump nominated him. I congratulate him and wish him 41
every success in continuing to serve the people of Mississippi," 42

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 44
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby congratulate former State Senator 45
Robert (Bobby) Chamberlin upon the occasion of his investiture as 46
Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern 47
District of Mississippi, and wish him every success in his new 48
role in the Mississippi judiciary. 49
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented at 50
the Investiture Ceremony of Judge Robert Chamberlin, transmitted 51
to Judge Chamberlin and his family, and made available to the 52
Capitol Press Corps. 53
