A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE OUTSTANDING CAREER OF 1
MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY ALL-SEC BASKETBALL GUARD JOSH HUBBARD 2
FROM MADISON, MISSISSIPPI. 3
WHEREAS, on March 17, 2026, Mississippi State's Josh Hubbard 4
picked up NABC All-Southeast District First-Team honors by the 5
national coaching organizations. For MSU's outstanding guard, he 6
is the sixth MSU player to secure two All-District First-Team nods 7
from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The 8
Madison native is joined by Erick Dampier, Bailey Howell, Jeff 9
Malone, Lawrence Roberts and Tolu Smith III; and 10
WHEREAS, Hubbard is one of five major conference players 11
(ACC, BIG EAST, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC) to amass at least 700 points 12
and 100 assists this season. Hubbard has dialed up a SEC-leading 13
seven games of 30+ points, while his 19 outings of 20+ points are 14
tied for 2nd on the SEC leaderboard. He is ranked among the SEC's 15
top 15 in points (22.09 – 2nd), three-pointers made (2.97 – 3rd), 16
three-point percentage (34.7 – 7th), and assists (3.59 – 13th); 17

WHEREAS, Hubbard has already shattered MSU's program mark by 19
knocking down 311 career three-pointers. The 311 treys are tied 20
for 9th on the SEC's all-time list. He had a performance for the 21
ages and poured in a career-high 46 points against Auburn 22
(February 18) fueled by a program single-game mark of 10 triples 23
and added 42 points versus Georgia (March 7) during the 2025-2026 24
regular season finale. Hubbard and Bailey Howell are the only two 25
MSU players with multiple SEC performances of 40+ points. Hubbard 26
has paired with Jayden Epps to average 35.8 points per contest 27
which is MSU's highest-scoring duo in over four decades. The last 28
time MSU had two players combine for over 35-plus points was Jeff 29
Malone and Terry Lewis in 1982-1983; and 30
WHEREAS, Josh Hubbard has had his fair share of recognition 31
for all of his work off the court. He was named the 2026 Coach 32
Wooden Citizenship Cup winner for his exceptional leadership, his 33
character and his commitment to community service. The Madison 34
native also was selected to the 2025-2026 All-State NACDA Good 35
Works Winter Team and notched SEC Community Service Team honors 36
for the second-straight season. Josh Hubbard has amassed 1,947 37
career points, which ranks 4th on MSU's all-time list, ranks 4th 38
for SEC players after their junior season, and ranks 34th overall 39
in SEC history. Hubbard is one of two SEC players and one of 12 40
major conference players with multiple seasons of 640+ points and 41
100+ assists during the 2000s; and 42

WHEREAS, Hubbard has used his platform and his resources 43
through Name Image Likeness in numerous community efforts. He 44
founded The Josh Hubbard Showcase, a basketball camp which has 45
hosted around 200 aspiring athletes in his hometown of Madison, 46
Mississippi, and was awarded approximately $50,000.00 in 47
scholarship money over the last two years; and 48
WHEREAS, Hubbard partnered with the Mississippi Make-A-Wish 49
Foundation in 2025-2026, where he launched the "Buckets for 50
Wishes" campaign, where every three-point shot he made resulted in 51
donations from sponsors and donors, directly funding wishes for 52
children in Mississippi. His campaign has raised over $75,000.00 53
and has already granted 11 wishes for children, most recently a 54
trip to Disney World for one young boy; and 55
WHEREAS, Hubbard purchased close to 100 gifts and spent an 56
afternoon in December 2025 handing the gifts out at the Children's 57
of Mississippi Hospital in Jackson, the same hospital where he was 58
a patient for 19 days at nine years old in 2014. Hubbard teamed 59
with his showcase, Aerus and US Foods for helping provide food and 60
donations to the Ballas Family Community Kitchen, which served 200 61
meals a day to the Greenwood, Mississippi, community after the 62
2025 ice storm; and 63
WHEREAS, Hubbard has also worked closely with Delbert 64
Hosemann, the Lieutenant Governor of the State of Mississippi, on 65
a public awareness campaign to reduce rates of chronic absenteeism 66
among school children; and 67

best wishes of the Mississippi Senate for future success on and 77
