AN ACT
T o amend chapter 170, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to black history
month observance in schools.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Chapter 170, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be
2 known as section 170.375, to read as follows:
170.375. 1. The board of each school district shall requ ire each public school in
2 such district to conduct educational pro grams and activities and devote a period of time
3 at least equal to one class period that honors the struggles and triumphs of black
4 Americans thr oughout the history of the United States. Such educational progr ams and
5 activities and period of time shall take place in the month of February .
6 2. The school board, in consultation with the administrators of each public
7 school in the school district, shall determine the educational pro grams and activities that
8 will be conducted to comply with the req uirements of this section.
