AN ACT
T o amend chapter 226, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to speed limits on
interstate highways.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Chapter 226, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be
2 known as section 226.1215, to read as follows:
226.1215. 1. The department of transportation shall conduct a study on
2 incr easing the speed limit to seventy-five miles per hour on roa dways within the
3 interstate system and rep ort the findings of that study no later than August 28, 2028, to
4 the governor , the speaker of the house of rep res entatives, and the preside nt pr o tempor e
5 of the senate.
6 2. Any concerns or objections raised in the rep ort relat ing to incre asing the
7 speed limit shall be accompanied by a discussion of potential ways to mitigate such
8 concerns or objections.
9 3. For purposes of this section, "interstate system" means that portion of the
10 national system of interstate and defense highways located within the boundaries of
11 Missouri, as officially designated or as may be hereafter designated by the state
12 highways and transportation commission with the appr oval of the Secretary of
13 Commer ce, pursuant to T itle 23, United States Code, as amended.
