AN ACT
T o amend chapter 568, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to the of fense of
permitting, encouraging, aiding, or causing a minor to commit an of fense, with
penalty provisions.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Chapter 568, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be
2 known as section 568.076, to read as follows:
568.076. 1. A person commits the offense of permitting, encouraging, aiding, or
2 causing a minor to commit an offense if the person is a par ent to the minor and the
3 person knowingly permits, encourages, aides, or causes the minor to commit an offense
4 in violation of state or federal law .
5 2. The offense of permitting, encouraging, aiding, or causing a minor to commit
6 an offense is a:
7 (1) Class A misdemeanor if the offense committed by the minor was a felony
8 offense; or
9 (2) Class C misdemeanor if the offense committed by the minor was a
10 misdemeanor offense.
11 3. Each violation of this section shall constitute a separate offense.
12 4. In addition to any other penalties, upon a plea or finding of guilt under this
13 section, the court may order the person to make res titution to any individual who has
14 suffer ed damages as a re sult of the offense committed by the minor . The person shall be
15 entitled to a hearing on any r estitution amount prior to imposition of the restit ution.

16 5. As used in this section, "minor" means an individual who is under eighteen
17 years of age.
