AN ACT
T o amend chapter 192, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to the senior tenant
bill of rights.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Chapter 192, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be
2 known as section 192.2160, to read as follows:
192.2160. 1. As used in this section, the term "older adult" includes all
2 individuals sixty years of age or older .
3 2. All landlords who lease pro perty to older adults shall be requi red to do the
4 following:
5 (1) Pr ovide written lease agr eements to older adults before they take possession
6 of the pro perty;
7 (2) Pr ovide written lease agr eement renewal s at least thirty days prior to the end
8 of the pre vious lease;
9 (3) Honor all lease terms agreed upon between the landlord and older adult
10 tenant;
11 (4) Maintain pr operties in a safe, habitable condition;
12 (5) Disclose all fees in the lease and not charge any additional fees; and
13 (6) Ensure rent incr eases follow clear guidelines established by state laws or
14 r egulations and municipal or county ordinances.
15 3. Any individual who suspects a violation of subsection 2 of this section may
16 contact the adult pr otective services hotline operated by the department of health and
