AN ACT
To amend chapter 407, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to the sale of wood
products.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Chapter 407, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto 1
one new section, to be known as section 407.3300, to read as 2
follows:3
407.3300. 1. No person, company, or business shall 1
sell or market products in a manner that is false or 2
misleading by using the term "wood" to describe the material 3
composition of a product or component without the product's 4
decorative surface being made of solid wood or wood veneer, 5
originating from a tree. No person, company, or business 6
shall advertise or sell in a manner that is false or 7
misleading any part of a product marketed as wood using wood- 8
related terms or names of wood species including, but not 9
limited to, oak, maple, cherry, pine, and walnut if the 10
product's decorative surface is not that wood species. 11
2. A person, company, or business may sell any product 12
physically located within the state as of August 28, 2026, 13
that is packaged in violation of the provisions of 14
subsection 1 of this section if the product is clearly 15
labeled: "This product is not made from wood.". After 16

August 28, 2026, no additional products shall enter the 17
state if the packaging is in violation of subsection 1 of 18
this section. 19
3. The department of agriculture may promulgate all 20
necessary rules and regulations for the administration of 21
this section. Any rule or portion of a rule, as that term 22
is defined in section 536.010, that is created under the 23
authority delegated in this section shall become effective 24
only if it complies with and is subject to all of the 25
provisions of chapter 536 and, if applicable, section 26
536.028. This section and chapter 536 are nonseverable and 27
if any of the powers vested with the general assembly 28
pursuant to chapter 536 to review, to delay the effective 29
date, or to disapprove and annul a rule are subsequently 30
held unconstitutional, then the grant of rulemaking 31
authority and any rule proposed or adopted after August 28, 32
2026, shall be invalid and void. 33
