WHEREAS, Shen Y un Performing Arts is a nonprofit Chinese classical dance and
2 music company established in New Y ork in 2006 with a mission to revive the traditional,
3 divinely inspired culture of China and share it with the world; and
4
5 WHEREAS, Shen Y un grew from one to eight touring companies that perform in
6 over 200 cities annually , including St. Louis, Kansas City , and Springfield, Missouri; and
7
8 WHEREAS, Shen Y un performances beautifully display the essence of 5,000 years
9 of Chinese culture and virtues lost under communist rule: faith, integrity , kindness, courage,
10 and resilience, which resonate deeply in the world today; and
11
12 WHEREAS, Shen Y un artists’ source of inspiration is the spiritual discipline known
13 as Falun Dafa, which is rooted in traditional Chinese culture and incorporates meditation
14 exercises and teachings centered on truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance; and
15
16 WHEREAS, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has not only violently suppressed
17 Falun Dafa since 1999 in China, but recently launched a transnational campaign of repression
18 against Shen Y un and Falun Dafa, using tactics like bomb threats, spreading disinformation,
19 and lawfare; and
20
21 WHEREAS, the 2025 Congressional Executive Commission on China's (CECC)
22 annual report cited multiple incidents of CCP transnational repression, including that Shen
23 Y un Performing Arts "received dozens of bomb threats against shows across the U.S. and
24 globally" and performances in Missouri were among them; and
25
26 WHEREAS, facing repression and threats, Shen Y un artists have continued to give
27 their all, inspire their audiences, and bring hope to the world:

29 NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOL VED that the members of the House of
30 Representatives of the One Hundred Third General Assembly , Second Regular Session, the
31 Senate concurring therein, hereby applaud the humanitarian ef forts of the Shen Y un
32 Performing Arts in our communities and congratulate them on their worldwide success and
33 this year ’ s 20th anniversary tour; and
34
35 BE IT FUR THER RESOL VED that the Chief Clerk of the Missouri House of
36 Representatives be instructed to prepare a properly inscribed copy of this resolution for Shen
37 Y un Performing Arts.
