SB 1042 - This act creates the offense of unlawful possession of a handgun if the person is a minor and knowingly possesses a handgun. This offense shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $100, imprisonment in a juvenile detention facility for a period not to exceed 10 days, or both.

AN ACT
To amend chapter 571, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to the offense of
unlawful possession of a handgun, with penalty provisions.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Chapter 571, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto 1
one new section, to be known as section 571.075, to read as 2
follows:3
571.075. 1. As used in this section, the following 1
terms mean: 2
(1) "Handgun", a firearm that has a short stock and is 3
designed to be held and fired by the use of a single hand; 4
(2) "Juvenile detention facility", the same meaning as 5
defined under section 211.151; 6
(3) "Minor", a person who is under eighteen years of 7
age or, if a member of the United States Armed Forces, under 8
eighteen years of age. 9
2. A person commits the offense of unlawful possession 10
of a handgun if the person is a minor and knowingly 11
possesses a handgun. 12
3. The offense of unlawful possession of a handgun is 13
punishable by imposition of a fine not to exceed two hundred 14
dollars, imprisonment in a juvenile detention facility for a 15
period not to exceed ten days, or both. 16
