AN ACT
To amend chapter 197, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to protections from
assaults on health care professionals.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Chapter 197, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto 1
one new section, to be known as section 197.708, to read as 2
follows:3
197.708. 1. As used in this section, the term "health 1
care facility" means any facility as defined in section 2
376.1350, including any hospital as defined in section 3
197.020. 4
2. Each health care facility shall display in a 5
prominent place within the health care facility a printed 6
sign with the following text in all capital letters: 7
"WARNING: ASSAULTING A HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL WHO IS 8
ENGAGED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF HIS OR HER OFFICIAL DUTIES, 9
INCLUDING STRIKING A HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL WITH ANY 10
BODILY FLUID, IS A SERIOUS CRIME THAT MAY BE PUNISHABLE AS A 11
CLASS A MISDEMEANOR.". 12
