AN ACT
To amend chapter 192, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to a dementia services
coordinator.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Chapter 192, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto 1
one new section, to be known as section 192.2155, to read as 2
follows:3
192.2155. 1. The division of senior and disability 1
services within the department of health and senior services 2
shall establish a dementia services coordinator as a full- 3
time position. 4
2. The dementia services coordinator shall: 5
(1) Evaluate the coordination of dementia services 6
within this state; 7
(2) Coordinate information resources affecting 8
Missourians living with dementia and their caregivers. Such 9
coordination shall include, but not be limited to: 10
(a) Using dementia-related data to coordinate ways to 11
improve public health outcomes and service delivery for 12
persons with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia; 13
(b) Establishing and maintaining relationships with 14
other agencies, providers, and organizations within the 15
state in order to meet the needs of affected populations and 16
prevent the duplication of services; 17

(c) Supporting the provision of dementia-specific 18
staff training across all relevant state agencies, including 19
law enforcement, the department of health and senior 20
services, and other organizations; and 21
(d) Recommending strategies to improve coordination of 22
dementia-related services and resources provided by public 23
and private entities; 24
(3) Streamline all applicable state government 25
services to increase efficiency and improve the quality of 26
care in residential, home-based, and community-based 27
settings; 28
(4) Identify any duplicated services; 29
(5) Identify grant opportunities to expand the scope 30
of services for persons living with dementia and their 31
caregivers and apply for the grant opportunities; 32
(6) Complete other duties relevant to supporting 33
policy development and implementation to enhance the quality 34
of life for persons affected by dementia and their 35
caregivers; 36
(7) Promote public and professional awareness and 37
education of dementia and access to needed services and 38
programs; and 39
(8) Collect and monitor data concerning the impact of 40
dementia in Missouri. 41
