AN ACT
To amend chapter 170, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to instruction in cursive
writing.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Chapter 170, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto 1
one new section, to be known as section 170.025, to read as 2
follows:3
170.025. Each school district and charter school may 1
establish a program designed to ensure that: 2
(1) Each elementary school under the control of such 3
school district or charter school provides instruction in 4
cursive writing so that students create readable documents 5
through legible cursive handwriting by the end of the fifth 6
grade; and 7
(2) Each student passes with proficiency a teacher- 8
constructed test demonstrating competency in both reading 9
and writing cursive. 10
