AN ACT
To amend chapter 407, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to the sale of wood
products.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Chapter 407, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto 1
one new section, to be known as section 407.3300, to read as 2
follows:3
407.3300. 1. No person, company, or business shall 1
sell or market products using the term wood without the 2
product's decorative surface being made of solid wood or 3
wood veneer, originating from a tree. No person, company, 4
or business shall advertise or sell any part of a product 5
marketed using wood-related terms or names of wood species 6
including, but not limited to, oak, maple, cherry, pine, and 7
walnut if the product's decorative surface is not that wood 8
species. 9
2. A person, company, or business may sell any product 10
physically located within the state as of August 28, 2026, 11
that is packaged in violation of the provisions of 12
subsection 1 of this section if the product is clearly 13
labeled: "This product is not made from wood.". After 14
August 28, 2026, no additional products shall enter the 15
state if the packaging is in violation of subsection 1 of 16
this section. 17

3. The department of agriculture may promulgate all 18
necessary rules and regulations for the administration of 19
this section. Any rule or portion of a rule, as that term 20
is defined in section 536.010, that is created under the 21
authority delegated in this section shall become effective 22
only if it complies with and is subject to all of the 23
provisions of chapter 536 and, if applicable, section 24
536.028. This section and chapter 536 are nonseverable and 25
if any of the powers vested with the general assembly 26
pursuant to chapter 536 to review, to delay the effective 27
date, or to disapprove and annul a rule are subsequently 28
held unconstitutional, then the grant of rulemaking 29
authority and any rule proposed or adopted after August 28, 30
2026, shall be invalid and void. 31
