Changes to Interim Committee Rules
This law changes the number of bill drafts interim committees can request on a partisan basis and clarifies what it means for a draft to be requested 'on a partisan basis' or 'on a bipartisan basis'.
What This Bill Does
- Increases the number of bill drafts an interim committee can request on a partisan basis from four to five.
- Clarifies that requesting a bill draft on a partisan basis requires a vote by members from only one party, and on a bipartisan basis requires votes from more than one party.

- Interim committees in the Montana Legislature
Terms To Know
- partisan basis
- A vote by members from only one political party to request a bill draft.

Limits and Unknowns

- It is unclear when the changes will take effect, but they are effective immediately after approval.
