Amendments

These notes stay tied to the official amendment files and metadata from the legislature.

COMMITTEE

Plain English: Amendment 1 changes Montana law by allowing building code compliance inspectors and other specified individuals to ask workers on a job site for their electrical license, and it permits employees of the department to issue fines if these licenses are not displayed.

  • Adds building code compliance inspectors as individuals who can request an electrician's license from someone working at a jobsite.
  • Allows department employees to issue citations and collect fines from workers who do not display their electrical license when asked.
  • The amendment text does not specify the exact amount of fines or penalties for non-compliance, which may be defined elsewhere in the bill or existing law.
COMMITTEE

Plain English: Amendment 2 changes who can ask for and report an electrician's license on a job site.

  • Adds building code compliance inspectors licensed in Montana to the list of people allowed to request an electrician's license.
  • Includes any person professionally responsible for the job site as someone who can ask for an electrician's license.
  • The amendment text does not specify what 'professionally responsible' means, which could lead to unclear application.
