AN ACT relating to elections; requiring a candidate for judicial
office to indicate his or her designated political party
affiliation on certain financial disclosure statements; and
providing other matters properly relating thereto.
Legislative Counsel’s Digest:
The Nevada Financial Disclosure Act requires a candidate for nomination, 1
election or reelection to a public office for which the candidate will be entitled to 2
receive annual compensation of $6,000 or more for serving in the office to file a 3
financial disclosure statement that contains c ertain information not later than the 4
10th day after the last day to qualify as a candidate for the office. (NRS 281.561, 5
281.571) Section 1 of this bill re quires a candidate for judicial office to include an 6
indication of his or her designated political party affiliation on such a financial 7
disclosure statement. Section 2 of this bill places section 1 within the Nevada 8
Financial Disclosure Act. 9

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Chapter 281 of NRS is hereby amended by adding 1
thereto a new section to read as follows: 2
1. In addition to the requirements of NRS 281.571, a 3
candidate for judicial office must indicate on the financial 4
disclosure statement filed pursuant to paragraph (a) of subsection 5
1 of NRS 281.561 the designation of his or her political party 6
affiliation for the purposes of voter registration. 7
2. As used in this section, “judicial office” has the meaning 8
ascribed to it in NRS 293.064. 9

Sec. 2. NRS 281.5555 is hereby amended to read as follows: 1
281.5555 The provisions of NRS 281.5555 to 281.581, 2
inclusive, and section 1 of this act , may be cited as the Nevada 3
Financial Disclosure Act. 4
Sec. 3. This act becomes effective on July 1, 2025. 5
