AN ACT relating to the Legislature; requiring the Director of the
Legislative Counsel Bureau to publish certain fiscal
information relating to the Legislature and the Legislative
Counsel Bureau; and providing other matters properly
relating thereto.
Legislative Counsel’s Digest:
Existing law creates the Legislative Fund as a speci al revenue fund for the use 1
of the Legislature and, in certain circumstances, the Legislative Counsel Bureau. 2
(NRS 218A.150) Section 2 of this bill requires the Director of the Legislative 3
Counsel Bureau to publish for each fiscal year: (1) a detailed, line -item budget of 4
the Legislature and the Legislative Counsel Bureau; and (2) the ending balance of 5
the Legislative Fund and all accounts in the Legislative Fund. 6
Section 1 of this bill requires, on or before March 1 of each year, the Director 7
to publish, for the previous calendar year, the annual salary, including the 8
compensation for overtime of: (1) the Secretary of the Senate; (2) each employee of 9
the Senate; (3) the Chief Clerk of the Assembly; and (4) each employee of the 10
Assembly. 11
Section 3 of this bill requires, on or before March 1 of each year, the Director 12
to publish, for the previous calendar year, the annual salary, including the 13
compensation for overtime of each employee of the Legislative Counsel Bureau. 14

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Chapter 218A of NRS is hereby amended by 1
adding thereto a new section to read as follows: 2
On or before March 1 of each year, the Director shall publish, 3
for the previous calendar year, the annual salary, including, 4
without limitation, compensation for overtime, of: 5
1. The Secretary of the Senate; 6
2. Each employee of the Senate; 7
3. The Chief Clerk of the Assembly; and 8
4. Each employee of the Assembly. 9
Sec. 2. NRS 218A.150 is hereby amended to read as follows: 10
218A.150 1. The Legislative Fund is hereby created as a 11
special revenue fund for the use of the Legislature, and where 12
specifically authorized by law, for the use of the Legislative Counsel 13
Bureau. 14
2. Support for the Legislative Fund must be provided by 15
legislative appropriation from the State General Fund. Money in the 16
Legislative Fund does not revert to the State General Fund at the 17
end of the fiscal year, and the balance in the Legislative Fund must 18
be carried forward to the next fiscal year. 19
3. Expenditures from the Legislative Fund may be made for: 20
(a) The payment of necessary expenses of the Senate; 21
(b) The payment of necessary expenses of the Assembly; 22
(c) The payment of necessary improvements to the Legisla tive 23
Building, other buildings used by the Legislature and all legislative 24
grounds; 25
(d) The payment of expenses for the interim operation of the 26
Legislature; and 27
(e) The payment of necessary expenses of, but not limited to: 28
(1) The Legislative Commission; 29
(2) The Legal Division; 30
(3) The Research Division; 31
(4) The Audit Division; 32
(5) The Fiscal Analysis Division; and 33
(6) The Administrative Division. 34
4. Expenditures from the Legislative Fund for purposes other 35
than those specified in subsectio n 3 or authorized specifically by 36
another statute may be made only upon the authority of a concurrent 37
resolution. 38
5. All money in the Legislative Fund must be paid out on 39
claims approved by the Director or the Director’s designee. 40
6. The Director shall publish, for each fiscal year: 41

(a) A detailed, line -item budget of the Legislature and the 1
Legislative Counsel Bureau; and 2
(b) The ending balance of the Legislative Fund and all 3
accounts in the Legislative Fund. 4

thereto a new section to read as follows: 6
