AN ACT relating to public broadcasting; requiring the Legislative
Auditor to conduct an audit of certain financial
information and employment matters associated with
Vegas PBS; requiring the Legislative Audit or to conduct
an audit of the Department of Education relating to grants
to public broadcasting organizations; and providing other
matters properly relating thereto.
Legislative Counsel’s Digest:
Existing law establishes the Legislative Counsel Bureau, wh ich consists of a 1
Legislative Commission, an Interim Finance Committee, a Director, an Audit 2
Division, a Fiscal Analysis Division, a Legal Division, a Research Division and an 3
Administrative Division. (NRS 218F.100) Existing law requires the Legislative 4
Auditor, who is the chief of the Audit Division, to conduct certain postaudits of 5
accounts, funds and other records of departments and boards, among other certain 6
entities, of the State to determine certain information. (NRS 218F.100, 218G.200) 7
This bill req uires the Legislative Auditor to conduct an audit of the: (1) financial 8
management and employment practices of Vegas PBS, including, without 9
limitation, a focus on the budget, hiring practices and any other relevant matters 10
deemed necessary by the Legislat ive Commission; and (2) grants of money from 11
the Department of Education to public broadcasting organizations, including, 12
without limitation, an analysis of the distribution of grants and the historical 13
increases of the grants to each public broadcasting o rganization and any other 14
relevant matters deemed necessary by the Legislative Commission. 15

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. 1. The Legislative Auditor shall conduct an audit 1
of the financial management and employment practices of Vegas 2
PBS. The audit of Vegas PBS must include, without limitation, a 3
focus on the budget, hiring practices and any other relevant matters 4
deemed necessary by the Legislative Commission. 5
2. The Legislative Auditor shall conduct an audit of the 6
distribution of grants from the Department of Education to public 7
broadcasting organizations. The audit of the Department of 8
Education must include, without limitation, an analysis of the 9
distribution of grants and the historical increases of the grants to 10
each public broadcasting organization and any other relevant 11
matters deemed necessary by the Legislative Commission. 12
3. On or before January 31, 2027, the Legislative Auditor shall 13
present a final written report of the audit conducted pursuant to this 14
section to the Audit Subcommittee of the Legislative Commission 15
created by NRS 218E.240. 16
Sec. 2. This act becomes effective on July 1, 2025. 17
