AN ACT relating to voting; clarifying the requirements for a person
to register to vote in this State; and providing other
matters properly relating thereto.
Legislative Counsel’s Digest:
Existing law authorizes a person who meets certain statutory requirements to 1
register to vote. (NRS 293.485) This bill clarifies that only a person who meets 2
certain requirements may register to vote. 3

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. NRS 293.485 is hereby amended to read as follows: 1
293.485 1. [Every] Only a citizen of the United States, 18 2
years of age or over, who has continuously resided in this State and 3
in the county 30 days and in the precinct 10 days next preceding the 4
day of the next succeeding: 5
(a) Primary election; 6
(b) Primary city election; 7
(c) Presidential preference primary election; 8
(d) General election; or 9
(e) General city election, 10
 and who has registered in the manner provided in this chapter, is 11
entitled to vote at that election. 12
2. This section does not exclude the registration of eligible 13
persons whose 18th birthday or the date of whose completion of the 14
required residence occurs on or before the next succeeding: 15
(a) Primary election; 16

(b) Primary city election; 1
(c) Presidential preference primary election; 2
(d) General election; 3
(e) General city election; or 4
(f) Any other election. 5
Sec. 2. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval. 6
