AN ACT relating to crimes; prohibiting certain persons from
selling, offering for sale or purchasing child remains ;
providing a penalty; and providing other matters properly
relating thereto.
Legislative Counsel’s Digest:
Existing law creates various crimes against public decency and good morals 1
and provides penalties to be imposed upon persons who commit su ch crimes. 2
(Chapter 201 of NRS) This bill: (1) prohibits a person from selling, offering for sale 3
or purchasing child remains except under certain circumstances ; and (2) provides 4
that a person who violates this prohibition is guilty of a misdemeanor. 5

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Chapter 201 of NRS is hereby amended by adding 1
thereto a new section to read as follows: 2
1. Except as otherwise provided in this section, a person shall 3
not sell, offer for sale or purchase child remains. 4
2. The provisions of sub section 1 do not apply to the sale or 5
purchase of child remains by a hospital, a ccredited medical 6
school, dental school or institution of higher education if the sale 7
or purchase is related to education, research or a similar purpose. 8
3. A person who violates the provisions of subsection 1 is 9
guilty of a misdemeanor. 10

4. As used in this section: 1
(a) “Child” means a person who is less than 18 years of age. 2
(b) “Child remains” means the body of a deceased child, or 3
part of the body which has been removed from a living child, in 4
any stage of decomposition. 5
Sec. 2. This act becomes effective on July 1, 2025. 6
