AN ACT relating to Medicaid; requiring the Department of Health
and Human Services to seek an increase to certain
reimbursement rates under the Medicaid program for
medication-assisted treatment provided by an opioid
treatment program provider ; and providing other matters
properly relating thereto.
Legislative Counsel’s Digest:
Existing law requires the Department of Health and Human Services to 1
administer the Medicaid program. (NRS 422.270) Existing law requires the 2
Director of the Department to include under Medicaid certain coverage relating to 3
the treatment of substance use disorders . (NRS 422.27 2366, 422.272368, 4
422.272428, 422.27248, 422.4025 ) This bill requires the Department to submit to 5
the United States Secretary of Health and Human Servi ces on o r before October 1, 6
2025, a request to amend the State Plan for Medicaid to increase to at least $15.34, 7
or as close to that amount as the Secretary approves, the rate of reimbursement 8
which is provided on a fee -for-service basis pursuant to the State Plan for 9
medication-assisted treatment provided by an opioid treatment program provider. 10

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. 1. On or before October 1, 202 5, the Department 1
of Health and Human Services shall submit to the United States 2
Secretary of Health and Human Services a request to amend the 3
State Plan for Medicaid to increase to at least $15.34 per hour, or as 4
close to that amount as the Secretary appro ves, the rate of 5
reimbursement which is provided on a fee-for-service basis pursuant 6

to the State Plan for medication-assisted treatment provided by a n 1
opioid treatment program provider. 2
2. The request submitted pursuant to subsection 1 must be 3
supported using methods for determining reimbursement rates 4
accepted by the Secretary. 5
Sec. 2. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval. 6
