STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty-Six

AN ACT
relative to services of a summons.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Section; Service of Summons to Law Enforcement Officers and Public Officials. Amend RSA 516 by inserting after section 5 the following new section:
516:5-a Service of Summons to Law Enforcement Officers and Other Public Officials. Any law enforcement officer or any other employee of a law enforcement agency, whether full-time or less than full-time, or any public official, elected or appointed, may be summoned to attend and testify or give his or her deposition, by reading to him or her, by giving to him or her in hand, or by delivery to the officer's or to the official's agency or organization at that agency's or organization's address housing said agency's or organization's offices, an attested copy of the writ of summons, and by paying or tendering to him or her the fees established for his or her travel to and from the place where his or her attendance is required, and for one day's attendance.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2027.
