STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty-Six

AN ACT
relative to the membership of the agriculture in the classroom committee, the annual proclamation of "New Hampshire Day at the Big E," and repealing the repeal of the produce safety chapter.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

229:1 The Department of Agriculture, Markets, and Food; Agriculture in the Classroom; Agriculture in the Classroom Committee. RSA 425:25, III is repealed and reenacted to read as follows:
III. The committee shall consist of the following members, and additional representatives may be appointed pursuant to a majority vote of the sitting committee members up to a maximum of 15 total members:
(a) The director of the university of New Hampshire cooperative extension, or designee.
(b) The commissioner of the department of agriculture, markets, and food, or designee.
(c) The commissioner of the department of education, or designee.
(d) The dean of the college of life sciences and agriculture, university of New Hampshire, or designee.
(e) A representative of the New Hampshire Farm Bureau Federation, appointed by its board of directors.
(f) A representative of the Granite State Association of FFA, appointed by its advisory council.
(g) A representative of the New Hampshire Association of Agricultural Educators, appointed by its executive committee.
(h) Up to 8 additional members who have a background in agriculture, appointed by a majority vote of the committee.

229:2 Agriculture in the Classroom; Report to the Department of Agriculture, Markets, and Food. Amend RSA 425:25, VI to read as follows:
VI. The committee shall submit an annual report of finances and activities [
of
]
to
the commissioner
of the department of agriculture, markets, and food
in a manner and form and containing such information as the commissioner may require.

229:3 New Section; New Hampshire Day at The Big E. Amend RSA 4 by inserting after section 13-ee the following new section:
4:13-ff New Hampshire Day at the Big E. The governor shall annually issue a proclamation observing the third Friday after Labor Day as “New Hampshire Day at The Big E" in recognition of the more than a century of support the Eastern States Exposition, Home of The Big E, has given to promoting agriculture and cooperation in the New England states.

229:4 Repeal. The following are repealed:
I. 2018, 323:28 and 2018, 323:29, I, relative to the repeal of the produce safety chapter.
II. 2021, 21:1, I, relative to the extended effective date of the repeal of produce safety chapter.

229:5 Effective Date. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
