STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty-Six

A RESOLUTION
affirming the state of California's request to divide into 2 states.

Whereas, citizens and regions have long been frustrated at being subjected to laws and regulations that they and their representatives have overwhelmingly opposed but were nonetheless passed and authorized by the more populous regions; and
Whereas, the right of a people to self-determination through the creation of a new political entity has long been a fundamental principle of American democracy and is consistent with the principles of federalism as outlined in the United States Constitution; and
Whereas, dividing an existing political entity into 2 or more smaller entities would better serve the citizens by fostering governance that is more responsive and representative; and
Whereas, creating multiple political entities would generate competition in governance, leading to more efficient, effective, and responsive government for all citizens; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives: the New Hampshire house of representatives supports the passage of the California Assembly Joint Resolution 23 calling for the state of California to divide into 2 states; and
Let it be further resolved that the house clerk send copies of this resolution to the New Hampshire Congressional delegation.
