driver's license reciprocity agreement with Republic of Ireland.

concerning driver�s licenses and supplementing Title 39
of the Revised Statutes.

Be It
Enacted
by the Senate and General Assembly of
the State of New Jersey:
���� 1.��� The Chief Administrator
of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, in consultation with the Department
of State, shall coordinate with the Republic of Ireland to enter into a
reciprocity agreement whereby:
���� a.��� a person who possesses a
valid New Jersey driver�s license may apply for and receive a Republic of
Ireland driver�s license without needing to take a driving knowledge or driving
skills test provided that the person meets certain requirements provided in the
reciprocity agreement; and
���� b.��� a person who possesses a
valid Republic of Ireland driver�s license may apply for and receive a New
Jersey driver�s license without needing to take a driving knowledge or driving
skills test provided that the person meets certain requirements provided in the
reciprocity agreement.
���� 2.��� This act shall take
effect immediately.
STATEMENT
���� This bill directs the Chief
Administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, in consultation with
the Department of State, to coordinate with the Republic of Ireland to enter
into a reciprocity agreement whereby a person with a valid New Jersey driver�s
license may apply for and receive a Republic of Ireland driver�s license, and a
person with a valid Republic of Ireland driver�s license may apply for and
receive a New Jersey driver�s license.� Under the bill, a person seeking a
driver�s license under the reciprocity agreement is required to meet certain
requirements provided in the reciprocity agreement and is exempt from needing
to take a driving knowledge test or driving skills test.
