An Act

concerning lands leased as shellfisheries and
amending R.S.50:1-27
.

Be It
Enacted
by the Senate and General Assembly of
the State of New Jersey:

���� 1.��� R.S.50:1-27 is amended
to read as follows:

���� 50:1-27.�����
a.
� The
council, with the approval of the commissioner, shall fix the term for which
leases may be granted, the rental to be paid, the maximum size of any single
ground to be leased, and the total acreage which may be leased to any person or
persons.

����
b.� The council shall set
the maximum size of any single ground to be leased on the Atlantic coast at 50
acres.

���� 2.� This act shall take effect
immediately.

STATEMENT

���� This bill establishes the
maximum size for any single ground that is leased as a shellfishery located on
the Atlantic coast at 50 acres.� Under current law, the �Atlantic Coast� is the
tidal waters of the State, except those of the Delaware River, Delaware Bay,
and their tributaries.
