An Act
concerning service provided by and documents issued by
the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission and supplementing Title 39 of the
Revised Statutes.

Be It
Enacted
by the Senate and General Assembly of
the State of New Jersey:

���� 1.��� a.� The New Jersey Motor
Vehicle Commission shall allow a customer to reserve an appointment for service
at a specific commission agency location on the commission�s Internet website.�

���� b.��� If a customer schedules
an appointment pursuant to subsection a. of this section to renew a document
that is set to expire and the first available appointment at the selected
commission agency location for that service is for a date and time after the document
is set to expire, the document shall not expire until the date and time of the
appointment scheduled by the customer for that service at the selected
commission agency location.� The commission shall issue to the customer
documentation extending the expiration date of the document until the date and
time of the scheduled appointment at the selected commission agency location.

���� 2.��� This act shall take
effect on the first day of third month after enactment.�

STATEMENT

���� This bill requires the New
Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (commission) to allow a customer to reserve an
appointment for service at a specific commission agency location on the
commission�s website.

���� If a customer schedules an
appointment through the commission�s website to renew a document that is set to
expire and the first available appointment at the selected commission agency
location is for a date and time after the document is set to expire, the
document is not to expire until the date and time of the appointment scheduled
by the customer for that service at the selected commission agency location.

���� The commission is required to
issue to the customer documentation that extends the expiration date of the
document to the date and time of the scheduled appointment.
