An Act
concerning snow removal and supplementing Title
27 of the Revised Statutes.

Be It
Enacted
by the Senate and General Assembly of
the State of New Jersey:
���� 1.��� a.� As used in this
section:
���� �Department� means the
Department of Transportation.
���� �Live tracking feed� means an
interactive digital map that utilizes global positioning system technology to
track the location of each snowplow.
���� �Snowplow� means and includes
any vehicle or equipment that is: �(1) designed or configured to remove snow or
ice or both snow and ice; and (2) owned, operated, or contracted by the
department.
���� b.��� When one or more
snowplows are deployed to remove ice, snow, or both, from public roads or
highways in the State, the department shall publish on the department�s
Internet website a live tracking feed and information concerning the conditions
of the public roads and highways.� To ensure the safety of the snowplow
operators, the live tracking feed shall:�
���� (1)�� be configured to a
15-minute delay of the location tracking; and
���� (2)�� omit identifying
information concerning the snowplow operators and snowplows, including the
snowplow�s license plate number.
���� c.���� The Commissioner of
Transportation may adopt, pursuant to the �Administrative Procedure Act,�
P.L.1968, c.410 (C.52:14B-1 et seq.), rules and regulations necessary to
implement the provisions of this section.
���� 2.��� This act shall take
effect immediately.
STATEMENT
���� This bill requires the
Department of Transportation (department) to publish a live tracking feed and
information concerning certain road conditions on the department�s Internet
website.� This requirement applies when one or more snowplows owned, operated,
or contracted by the department are deployed to remove ice, snow, or both, from
public roads or highways in the State.
���� To ensure the safety of the
snowplow operators, the bill requires the live tracking feed to:� (1) be
configured to a 15-minute delay of the location tracking; and (2) omit
identifying information concerning the snowplow operators and snowplows,
including the snowplows� license plate numbers.
���� Under the bill, �live tracking
feed� means an interactive digital map that utilizes global positioning system
technology to track the location of each snowplow.
