SYNOPSIS
���� Exempts persons with disabilities from parking meter
fees under certain circumstances.

An Act
concerning parking meter fees for persons with
disabilities and supplementing Title 39 of the Revised Statutes.

Be It
Enacted
by the Senate and General Assembly of
the State of New Jersey:
���� 1.��� a.� As used in this
section, �person with a disability� means the same as that term is defined in
section 1 of P.L.1949, c.280 (C.39:4-204).
���� b.��� A person with a
disability shall be exempt from the payment of municipal parking meter fees
when a motor vehicle displays a placard or wheelchair symbol license plate issued
pursuant to section 3 of P.L.1949, c.280 (C.39:4-206).� The exemption
established under this subsection shall only apply when the person with a
disability to whom the placard or wheelchair symbol license plate has been
issued is the driver or a passenger of the motor vehicle.� The exemption shall
not apply when the motor vehicle is parked for more than 24 hours at one
location where the motor vehicle is subject to a municipal parking meter fee.
���� c.���� The Chief Administrator
of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission shall adopt, pursuant to the
�Administrative Procedure Act,� P.L.1968, c.410 (C.52:14B-1 et seq.), rules and
regulations to effectuate the purposes of this section.
���� 2.��� This act shall take
effect immediately.
STATEMENT
���� This bill exempts a person
with a disability from paying municipal parking meter fees when:� (1) a motor
vehicle displays a placard or wheelchair symbol license plate issued to a
person with a disability pursuant to current law; and (2) the person with a
disability to whom the placard or license plate has been issued is the driver
or a passenger of the motor vehicle.
