An Act
concerning rebates offered by public utilities for
Energy Star-related products and appliances and supplementing P.L.2018, c.17.

Be It
Enacted
by the Senate and General Assembly of
the State of New Jersey:

���� 1.��� A public utility that
administers a rebate program for the purchase of residential products and
appliances bearing the federal Environmental Protection Agency�s Energy Star
label as part of the public utility�s energy efficiency program or peak demand
reduction program, as approved by the Board of Public Utilities pursuant to
section 3 of P.L.2018, c.17 (C.48:3-87.9), shall provide a rebate offered for
the purchase of an Energy Star-rated product or appliance of no less than 20
percent of the total cost of the product or appliance.

���� 2.��� This act shall take
effect immediately.

STATEMENT

���� This bill requires a public
utility that offers a rebate program for the purchase of residential products
and appliances bearing the federal Environmental Protection Agency�s Energy
Star label as part of its energy efficiency program or peak demand reduction
program, as approved by the Board of Public Utilities, to provide a rebate of
no less than 20 percent of the total cost of the product or appliance.
