SENATE ENVIRONMENT AND ENERGY COMMITTEE

STATEMENT TO

SENATE, No.
4057

STATE
OF NEW JERSEY

DATED:
JUNE 8,
2026

The Senate Environment and Energy Committee reports
favorably Senate Bill No. 4057.

This
bill would clarify that the definition of carpet in the Protecting Against
Forever Chemicals Act, P.L.2025, c.202 (C.56:3-53 et al.) does not include any
rug or fabric intended solely for use inside aircraft, automobiles, light duty
trucks, vans, buses, or any other vehicle. The bill would thus exempt those
kinds of rugs and fabrics from the provisions of the Protecting Against
Forever Chemicals Act.
