An Act
concerning neurodegenerative disorders and
supplementing Title 26 of the Revised Statutes.

Be It
Enacted
by the Senate and General Assembly of
the State of New Jersey:

���� 1.��� a. The Department of
Health shall develop and maintain a centralized neurodegenerative disorders
database, which shall include, but shall not be limited to, the following
disorders: �amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Huntington's Disease, Parkinson's
disease, Alzheimer's disease and related disorders or other forms of dementia, and
other prevalent neurodegenerative disorders, as determined by the Commissioner
of Health.

���� b. (1) The neurodegenerative
disorders database shall contain State and national statistics and other
information on neurodegenerative disorders that pertain to:� the cause and
nature of neurodegenerative disorders, including environmental and hereditary
factors; diagnostic procedures; symptoms; treatment; and life expectancy.

���� (2) The neurodegenerative
disorders database shall contain information concerning:� the status and
quality of the State's professional workforce; a list of current providers and
treatment centers that specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative
disorders; and any other information deemed relevant by the Commissioner of
Health.

���� c.���� The neurodegenerative
disorders database shall be made available to the public through a centralized
location on the Internet website of the Department of Health, and shall be
formatted to perform informational searches that yield results for one or more neurodegenerative
disorders.

2. �The Commissioner of Health shall adopt rules and
regulations, in accordance with the �Administrative Procedure Act,� P.L.1968,
c.410 (C.52:14B-1 et seq.), as are necessary to effectuate the provisions of
this act.

���� 3. �This act shall take effect
immediately.

STATEMENT

���� This bill requires the
Department of Health (department) to develop and maintain a central
neurodegenerative disorders database.

���� Under the bill, the department
is to develop and maintain a centralized neurodegenerative disorders database,
which is to include, but not be limited to, the following disorders: �amyotrophic
lateral sclerosis, Huntington's Disease, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's
disease and related disorders or other forms of dementia, and other prevalent neurodegenerative
disorders, as determined by the Commissioner of Health.

���� The neurodegenerative
disorders database is to contain State and national statistics and other
information on neurodegenerative disorders that pertain to:� the cause and
nature of neurodegenerative disorders, including environmental and hereditary
factors; diagnostic procedures; symptoms; treatment; and life expectancy.

���� Under the bill, the neurodegenerative
