Concurrent Resolution
recognizing the
centennial of the Township of Wyckoff.

Whereas,
The Township of Wyckoff is located in
northwest Bergen County, New Jersey; and

Whereas,
Wyckoff was originally inhabited by the
Lenape and was the site of the Sicomac �happy hunting ground� where many of the
Lenape, including Oratam, Chief of the Ackingshacys, were buried; and

Whereas,
In 1720, the first European settlers
within Wyckoff were recorded as John and William Van Voor Haze; and

Whereas,

In 1771, Franklin Township
originally consisted of what is today Ho-Ho-Kus, Ridgewood, Midland Park,
Oakland, Franklin Lakes, and Wyckoff and over time, these areas seceded and
were incorporated as their own municipalities; and

Whereas,
By 1922,
Franklin Township included only the area known locally as Wyckoff; and

Whereas,
In 1926,
voters approved the name change of Franklin Township to Wyckoff through a
referendum; and

Whereas,
Present day Wyckoff is a bustling suburb
with modern shopping centers and manicured landscapes, where many types of
businesses thrive; and

Whereas,
Over the past 100 years, many New Jersey
residents have come to call Wyckoff their home; and

Whereas,

Wyckoff is celebrating its centennial year
in 2026; and

Whereas,
It is fitting and proper for this State to
commemorate the centennial anniversary of the Township of Wyckoff; now,
therefore,

Resolved
by the Senate of the State of New
Jersey (the General Assembly concurring):

���� 1.��� The Legislature
recognizes the centennial of
the
Township of Wyckoff
in the year 2026.�

���� 2.��� Copies of this
resolution, as filed with the Secretary of State, shall be transmitted by the
Clerk of the General Assembly or the Secretary of the Senate to the Mayor and
municipal clerk of
the Township of
Wyckoff
.�

STATEMENT

���� This concurrent resolution recognizes the centennial of
the Township of Wyckoff.� Wyckoff is located in northwest Bergen County, New
Jersey.� It was originally inhabited by the Lenape� and was the site of the
