SYNOPSIS

Designates November 2026 as Veterans Month in New
Jersey.

CURRENT VERSION OF TEXT

 As introduced.

A Joint
Resolution

designating November 2026
as Veterans Month in New Jersey.

Whereas,

Throughout the history of the United States, brave men and women have served
with honor in the Armed Forces of this country and participated in wars and
conflicts in which this country has engaged; and

Whereas,

Individuals serving in the United States Armed Forces have made significant
sacrifices to ensure that this nation and the American people are safe and
secure; and

Whereas,

Millions of people across the country enjoy the blessings of freedom, peace,
and representative government because our veterans were willing to risk their
lives for them; and

Whereas,

The people of the United States, and of this State, owe a great debt of
gratitude to all our military veterans who have stood, in times of peace and
war, for individual liberty and a free and democratic government; and

Whereas,

There are approximately 15.8 million veterans in the United States, with approximately
350,000 veterans residing in New Jersey; and

Whereas,

With many veterans and multiple active military bases in New Jersey, the State
should provide ample opportunities to honor the dedicated servicemembers who
protect the nations freedom every day; and

Whereas,

Originally celebrated as Armistice Day beginning in 1918 to recognize the
victory of the Allied Forces of World War I, Veterans Day is celebrated on
November 11 of each year to recognize those who served in all wars; and

Whereas,

It is therefore fitting and proper to designate November 2026 as Veterans Month
in New Jersey, in recognition of the achievements, contributions, and
sacrifices of the brave men and women who have served this country; now,
therefore,

Be It
Resolved
by the Senate and General Assembly of

country.

 2. The Governor may annually
issue a proclamation calling upon public officials and citizens of the State to
observe Veterans Month with appropriate activities and programs.

 3. This joint resolution
shall take effect immediately.
