Resolution
designating the second full week
in September of each year as �Truck Driver Appreciation Week.�
Whereas,
Nearly every aspect of daily life is made possible because professional truck
drivers deliver the goods and resources that people need and depend on; and
Whereas,
Professional truck drivers play a vital role in supporting the national and
State economy by transporting goods safely, securely, and efficiently; and
Whereas,
Professional truck drivers delivered over 11 billion tons of freight in 2024,
or about 70 percent of all the freight moved in the United States; and
Whereas,
In New Jersey, the trucking industry supports hundreds of thousands of jobs and
serves as a critical component of the State�s transportation, logistics, and
supply chain network; and
Whereas,
Recent supply chain disruptions have further reinforced the importance of the
work done by professional truck drivers, who are essential to ensuring access
to food, medicine, fuel, and other critical goods and resources; and
Whereas,
In the past, the United States Senate and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Administration have recognized the second full week of September as �National
Truck Driver Appreciation Week,� and many states have enacted legislation to observe
this week at the state level; and
Whereas,
It is fitting and proper for the State of New Jersey to formally recognize and
express appreciation for the dedication, professionalism, and contributions of
professional truck drivers
; now, therefore,

Resolved
by the Senate and General Assembly of
the State of New Jersey:
���� 1.��� The second full week of
September of each year is designated as �Truck Driver Appreciation Week� in New
Jersey to recognize and thank professional truck drivers for their hard work,
commitment, and essential contributions to the economy and daily life of the
State.
���� 2.��� The Governor is
respectfully requested to issue a proclamation recognizing �Truck Driver
Appreciation Week� in New Jersey and to call upon public officials and citizens
of this State to acknowledge the important role of professional truck drivers.
���� 3.��� This joint resolution
shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
���� This joint resolution
designates the second full week of September of each year as �Truck Driver
Appreciation Week� in New Jersey to recognize the essential role professional
truck drivers play in supporting the economy, maintaining supply chain
reliability, and ensuring the safe and timely movement of goods throughout the
State and nation. �Moreover, the resolution recognizes the particular
importance of professional truck drivers in New Jersey, where the trucking
industry plays a central role in the State�s transportation, logistics, and
supply chain network.
