CURRENT VERSION OF TEXT
 As introduced.

A Senate
Resolution
condemning President Trumps
threats of genocide and war crimes against Iran.
Whereas,
Iran is a sovereign nation in Southwest Asia and is home to approximately 87
million people; and
Whereas,
In early 2026, representatives of Iran and the United States discussed Irans
nuclear program, however, United States President Donald Trump stated that he was
not satisfied with the progress of the discussions; and
Whereas,
As a result, President Trump issued an armada with the intent to destroy Iran's
missile capabilities and its navy, prevent Iran from developing nuclear
weapons, and ensure the regime is unable to continue arming, funding, or
directing "terrorist armies" outside Irans borders; and
Whereas,
Throughout the conflict, the United States and Israel have conducted airstrikes
on Iranian infrastructure, and Iran has blocked access to the Strait of Hormuz;
and
Whereas,
President Trump threatened to carry out aggressive bombings of Irans civilian
infrastructure through multiple social media posts, including, until then, we
are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages, and,
Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in
Iran. There will be nothing like it!!!; and
Whereas,
In relation to those threats, President Trump also stated that, a whole
civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again; and
Whereas,
President Trumps statement constitutes a violation of the Fourth Geneva
Convention, which prohibits threats of violence when the primary target is
civilians; and
Whereas,
Under Article II of the Genocide Convention, which defines genocide as certain,
acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national,
ethnical, racial, or religious group, the Presidents statement constitutes a
threat of genocide; and
Whereas,
President Trumps posts contradict both the basic standards of human decency
and the values that the United States represents; and
Whereas,
These remarks should not be dismissed as bluster or strategic leveraging, as
they are direct and unambiguous threats of genocide and war crimes by the
leader of this nations military; and
Whereas,
The President has defended his statement threatening genocide to the media,
stating he was, fine with it, when asked about his statement; and
Whereas,
Numerous experts and leaders have condemned the comments made by President
Trump, including the Secretary-General of the United Nations, members of the
United States Congress, and international law experts; and
Whereas,
The United States has one of the strongest militaries in the world, and acts
under the orders of the President who is the Commander in Chief and, as such,
the people of this country have a responsibility to ensure the genocidal threats
are not carried out; and
Whereas,
It is therefore the duty of New Jersey to condemn the threats of genocide and
war crimes against Iran issued by President Trump and oppose threats or acts of
violence against innocent civilians; now, therefore,

Be It
Resolved

STATEMENT
 This resolution condemns
President Trumps threats of genocide and war crimes against Iran.
Iran is a sovereign nation in Southwest
Asia and is home to approximately 87 million people. In early 2026,
representatives of Iran and the United States (US) discussed Irans nuclear
program, however, US President Donald Trump stated that he was not satisfied
with the progress of the discussions. As a result, President Trump issued an
armada with the intent to destroy Iran's missile capabilities and its navy,
prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, and ensure the regime is unable
to continue arming, funding, or directing "terrorist armies" outside
Irans borders.
 President Trump has threatened
to carry out aggressive bombings of Irans civilian infrastructure through
multiple social media posts, including, until then, we are blasting Iran into
oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages, and, Tuesday will be Power
Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be
nothing like it!!! In relation to those threats, the President also stated
that, a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. This
statement constitutes a violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which
prohibits threats of violence when the primary target is civilians. Under
Article II of the Genocide Convention, which defines genocide as certain, acts
committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical,
racial, or religious group, the Presidents statement also constitutes a
threat of genocide. President Trumps posts contradict both the basic
standards of human decency and the values that the United States represents.
 These remarks should not be
dismissed as bluster or strategic leveraging, as they are direct and
unambiguous threats of genocide and war crimes by the leader of this nations
military. The President has not shown remorse for his actions, as he has
defended his statement threatening genocide to the media. Numerous experts and
leaders have condemned the comments made by President Trump, including the
Secretary-General of the United Nations, members of the US Congress, and
international law experts. The US has one of the strongest militaries in the
world, and acts under the orders of the President who is the Commander in Chief
and, as such, the people of this country have a responsibility to ensure the genocidal
threats are not carried out. It is therefore the duty of New Jersey to condemn
the threats of genocide and war crimes against Iran issued by President Trump
and oppose threats or acts of violence against innocent civilians.
