        AN  ACT  to  amend  the  labor  law  and  the veterans' services law, in
          relation to requiring the department of labor to create and maintain a
          list of available careers and job listings in the state for veterans

          THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
        BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

     1    Section 1. The labor law is amended by adding a new section 45 to read
     2  as follows:
     3    §  45.  CAREER AND JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR VETERANS. 1. FOR THE PURPOSES
     4  OF THIS SECTION, "VETERAN" SHALL HAVE THE SAME MEANING AS SUCH  TERM  IS
     5  DEFINED IN SECTION THIRTY-TWO OF THE VETERANS' SERVICES LAW.
     6    2.  THE  COMMISSIONER  SHALL  CREATE  AND MAINTAIN A LIST OF AVAILABLE
     7  CAREERS AND JOB LISTINGS IN THE STATE OF  NEW  YORK  FOR  VETERANS.  THE
     8  COMMISSIONER  SHALL  PROVIDE  SUCH  LIST  TO THE DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS'
     9  SERVICES AND SHALL UPDATE SUCH LIST AS NECESSARY TO ENSURE  SUCH  CAREER
    10  AND  JOB  LISTINGS ARE CURRENT.  SUCH LIST SHALL BE CONSPICUOUSLY PLACED
    11  ON THE DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS' SERVICES WEBSITE.
    12    § 2. Subdivision 13 of section 4 of the  veterans'  services  law,  is
    13  amended to read as follows:
    14    13.  To  provide information regarding resources that are available to
    15  assist veterans in  obtaining  employment  by  maintaining  a  veterans'
    16  employment  portal  on  the  department's  internet website. Such portal
    17  shall provide virtual links to appropriate governmental programs on  the
    18  federal and state level, including, but not limited to the United States
    19  department  of  labor  and  the New York state department of labor WHICH
    20  SHALL PROVIDE THE DEPARTMENT A LIST OF AVAILABLE CAREER AND JOB LISTINGS
    21  FOR VETERANS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION FORTY-FIVE  OF
    22  THE  LABOR LAW. The department may consult with members of the community
    23  devoted to helping veterans obtain employment. The department shall make
    24  reference to this information pursuant to subdivisions  five,  six,  and

     1  seven  of  this  section  and  the annual report to the governor and the
     2  legislature as provided in subdivision seventeen of this  section.  Such
     3  information  required  under  this  subdivision  shall be maintained and
     4  updated  annually. The information may also be made available in printed
     5  form.
     6    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
